PRODUCT REVIEW: KitchenAid KFP1333 13-Cup Food Processor

KitchenAid KFP1333 13-Cup Food Processor

Recently, KitchenAid announced a major upgrade to its line of Food Processors: The KFP1333 13-Cup Food Processor. Touting ExactSlice, KA’s new system for slicing vegetables in a wide range of thickness, this model is a game changer.

I recently won this model in a KitchenAid giveaway on Twitter, and have been using it heavily ever since.

The sheer size of the box alone lets you know that this Food Processor is a behemoth. Supplied items include a 13-Cup work bowl, a smaller 4-Cup work bowl (both BPA-Free), 3-in-1 Feed Tube, 2 Multipurpose Blades, Dough Blade, Slicing Disc, Shredding Disc, and a Storage Case to keep all the blades and accessories. Additional blades and discs are available, but considering what it’s capable of right out of the box, I don’t yet see a need for them…yet.

Zingerman's Pimento Cheese

The first thing I made in the Food Processor was Zingerman’s famous Pimento Cheese, and it was so much easier compared to making it manually. I installed the shredding disc, and was able to shred a block of Cheddar cheese with ease. Thanks to its large capacity, after shredding the cheese I replaced the disc with the multipurpose blade to finish the recipe. I was able to use one bowl to make the entire recipe, which made for super easy cleanup. Before getting this Food Processor, I had to grate the cheese by hand, which was tedious and made a huge mess. Not anymore!

Homemade PizzaHomemade Baguette Bread

Homemade Pizza Dough and Baguette Bread is a cinch with this Food Processor’s dough blade. Again, the large capacity of the 13-Cup work bowl keeps the mess (and dishes to wash!) to an absolute minimum. Why buy pre-made pizzas and bread, when the KitchenAid makes it this easy?

Carrot Soup

A couple of nights ago, the ExactSlice system really came through in the clutch: making Carrot Soup. The recipe I use calls for 12 carrots, peeled and sliced. Once I peeled the carrots, I set up the Food Processor and installed the slicing blade. The KA sliced through the carrots with speed and precision, in a fraction of the time it would take to slice them by hand.

I’ll be making AMP 150’s famous Velvet Mushroom Soup next week, and you can bet that I’ll be using the KA to make it.

This Food Processor has made home cooking so much easier, opened up additional cooking possibilities, and makes cooking at home an absolute joy. MSRP is $249.99, but Amazon has them for much less.

Disclosure: I received this Food Processor for free from KitchenAid’s Twitter giveaway, but this review is unsolicited.
